  • When Can I Schedule a Sick Visit?

    If you’re ever in doubt about whether your child needs a sick visit, call our office  


    For acute care, kindly call the office beginning at 8:30 am to speak with a medical secretary who will schedule an appointment for you.  Sometimes an appointment may not be needed. We have a well-qualified triage team, who will listen to your concerns and will advise you regarding your issue, check with the physician and call you back or schedule an appointment if necessary. If our nurse is on with another caller, the medical secretary will take a message and you will receive a return call. 

  • What Happens During a Sick Child Visit?

     The objective of a sick child visit is to promptly diagnose the issue and initiate treatment to alleviate your child's discomfort. Alongside reviewing your child’s symptoms, medical history and completing a thorough exam, a sick visit may encompass blood or urine tests, as well as swabs to detect infections such as strep throat or the flu.

  • When Does My Child Need Immediate Medical Care?

     While certain conditions addressed during a sick visit might necessitate urgent care, specific symptoms act as red flags indicating that your child needs immediate medical attention.


    If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, seek medical attention immediately: 


    • Newborns (2 months old or younger) with a rectal temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
    • Fever consistently exceeding 104°F (40°C), or if fever persists for more than two days without a clear diagnosis. 
    • Displays signs of ill appearance, lethargy, poor responsiveness, or irritability.
    • Rapid breathing or evident distress.
    • Experiences severe or worsening pain.
    • Shows additional concerning symptoms such as a stiff neck, severe headache, unexplained rash, decreased urine output, repeated vomiting, or diarrhea.
    • Has underlying immune system issues such as sickle cell disease or cancer, or is taking steroids.
    • Has had a seizure.
